The property is situated right in the heart of Hesdin, a town steeped in Spanish history of all things. The town was moved by force from the border with Spanish Flanders to the current location. These days, it is a pretty town and the bridges crossing the River Cache add to the character and charm. The main square in the town if the perfect place to sit back with a coffee or a glass of wine. Thursday is market day and as well as all the usual amenities - supermarkets, banking, doctors, schools etc etc, there are lots of small, interesting shops to explore as well as a good selection of restaurants to enjoy.
For history lovers (which you may well be if this particularly property has peeked your interest), the famous battle site of Agincourt is nearby. Here, Henry V of England won his history victory over the massive French army and there are frequent re-enactments at the mediaeval ruins of Fressin Castle.
The countryside surrounding Hesdin is beautiful. The Forêt de Crecy is particularly note-worthy. A 150square km area of oak and beech woods. It is a haven for wildlife and a wonderful place for walkers, horse-riders and cyclists to explore. Golf, tennis, swimming and fishing are also common pastimes for Hesdin residents.
Property prices in the Pas-de-Calais are reasonable and there is a strong rental market due to the ease of access from the UK. However, there is much talk of a rapid increase in prices in the near future as a result of increased government investment in this area.
