Property Description
This striking 8-bed village house with river frontage is the perfect house for large gatherings. The living space is large, light and versatile. Outside there is a 100sqm terrace, mature garden and the 43m private beach beyond. Situated in a lovely village with plenty of shops, it’s a wonderful part of France to enjoy year round.
For nearly 20 years, this property has been a much loved family home and artist’s studio. Whilst there is no shortage of natural daylight, the glazed internal doors and bright decor mean that there is a wonderful, exotic atmosphere throughout the house. Being such a busy family home, the house would probably benefit from a lick paint, but in terms of lay out and proportions the house is very comfortable and the large rooms mean that there’s even space for a full-size table-tennis table!
A huge terrace runs around two sides of the ground floor of the house and with plenty of french doors, there is an easy indoor/outdoor flow that allows you to make the most of the al fresco lifestyle that can be enjoyed in southern France.
The house is arranged over 4 floors with a total 417sqm habitable space, much of which is extremely versatile and can be moulded to accommodate many layouts. Here’s how the current owners use the space:

The Garden & Beach (602sqm)
The 14 x 43m garden, which is on a lower level than the house, runs down to the river Hérault and along the riverbank which gives a large section of private river beach to enjoy. The property boundary actually runs to half way across the river. It’s the perfect spot for bbq’s, paddling, dipping, swimming and playing and generally cooling off - without having to worry about the maintenance of a swimming pool.
Location
The property is a short walk across the river over a lovely foot bridge to the town of Ganges where there is a wide range of shops, restaurants, cafés and services, including primary and secondary schools.
Cazilhac sits on the southern edge of the Cévennes National Park, where there are endless walking and cycling trails to explore, and of course, those wonderful waterfalls and lagoons to head for in the hot summer months.
Further afield, Montpellier is a 50 minute drive, and within an hour you can be on the beach or pulling up in a ski resort. There are plenty of airports to choose from to get to and from Cazilhac - Nîmes, Toulouse, Marseille and Perpignan, and of course, there a plenty of spots you can hop on or off the TGV.
